The Sims 3 Slideshow
Yeah I know I’m probably going to take a lot of heat for this one, but I’ve been playing The Sims since the first month it came out. I’ve wasted countless amounts of money on every game, every expansion, and every single “stuff” pack. I’ve even bought a ton of items off of the Sims 3 Store. So I guess I kind of deserve what I’m about to complain about.
What…the hell…is WRONG WITH EA?!?!?!
Here I am, with my happy little Sim chick visiting China. I head off to my quest at 2AM Sim time to the Temple of Heaven. My chick walks down the never-ending staircase outside of the base camp and mounts her bike. Then she begins pedaling 10 feet…stop. Freeze. I start to panic; it’s been forever since I saved my game and I will be mourning for the next 3 days if this crashes. Please, don’t crash. Don’t do it. Please, I love you Sims, don’t do this to me!!! Phew. She begins to pedal again.
Ten more feet. Freeze. What the hell? I tap my hand impatiently on my desk. She pedals again. Ten more feet. Over, and over, and over again. My game has turned into a slideshow.
Seriously. I could deal with the slowness in the Sims 2 when I had everything installed. I could understand that I had downloaded a lot of crap that wasn’t from EA and probably had issues and messed up my game. But come on EA, it’s time to fix the stuff you sell!!!
This happens to every person who plays The Sims 3. Why? Because Sims become stuck. Cars get lost in space and chew up memory. Every TV and stereo in every household in the entire Sims universe gets left on for eternity and mommy Sims leave their infants and toddlers alone in the park. Their endless crying eats up my CPU.
I have an extremely overpowered computer that can handle any pig of a game. But the Sims 3 is in its own universe. If you do a google search on The Sims 3 lockups, or crashes, or bugs, or whatever, you’ll find that EA never bothers to fix their games. Instead, they say “eh, let’s worry about that later and make more money now.” Yeah. Pisses me off too.
So now, I’ve had to install a mod called Overwatch just to run the game. My overwatch pops up around 3am Sims time and fixes all of the miscellaneous bugs that have been going off. It makes me able to play my game again like it’s supposed to be played. And why do I have to install a mod? Because EA would rather have their engineers create new material rather than fix old bugs. That’s why. So even though people like myself have spent hundreds…well actually, THOUSANDS, on their game, we’re completely unable to play it without a mod.
Yeah. One word. Bullshit.
